the space between: also~and.

This weekend I visited THE SPACE BETWEEN exhibit in St Pancras crypt…I loved it and I havnt forgotten to blog about it, but I am waiting for images of the work in situ, as it is vital to what I want to say about the work, particularly since I visited the exhibit with some one who had some interesting insights that I also want to share. So its important that the images link with the experience of the work that we had…..So while I wait I will share a few thoughts and images from the studio.

So whats been happening for me? well I have some drawings and a painting heading over to the NHS (more on that later) but its a good thing. Painting continues: punctuated by extended periods of thinking~mainly in circles, but its important, regardless of its shape.

In fact I am heading back into a period of research and looking. I have come up against a couple of barriers within my practice of late and I plan to smash them down or work around them~either way its going to take a bit of time. I know its needed but I often begrudge, as a maker, giving over that time and space to what can often feel hugely unproductive.

As a taster, here’s a snapshot of what I see.

I hope you manage to get through those barriers soon. Frustration can be unbareable but it will happen when it happens, and I look forward to seeing your work when you come through them :) .

Its the nature of the beast, or so it would seem. I know that these times are important, i would just much rather be making because everything else feels like I’m wasting time. BUT if the out come is a positive one, then so be it and I will battle on and come out the other side with a new approach to the paintings I am making.
