I have one new painting and a selection from the ‘Black and White series’ on exhibit at The Lock Gallery Coventry.
The painting- ‘Endings’ is very new and a departure in some ways so I am open to any comments. I have been working on this painting for a while, blogged about it too but all to soon it was time to install it in the gallery. I had made the decision that it would be this painting regardless, my fear being that new work will stay hidden in my kitchen. Despite its title or perhaps because of it, ‘Endings’ feels like a still, captured in the moment that shifts are taking place, at the precise moment that I discard certain elements of my practice and focus on the ‘state’ of the figure..and what a state she’s in…These are the reasons that it had to be this painting and why I would be more comfortable if it wasnt.
The exhibit 18 Nov – 13 Dec.

Cheers Dean.I know what you mean, its something to work on within the blog. My influences flit around so much and even more so since I have added the figure to my work. I have struggled to locate my practice over the last year or so and much of that is due to the rate at which my work developed-but thats no excuse!! I think if I can start verbalizing the significance if my influences, no matter hoe small I may be able to dig a bit deeper when talking about my practice, im to prone to silence. Thats why I put the new painting in the gallery-give myself a bit of shock treatment.
thanks again for feed back

I know where you are coming from and I dont find it easy either. I struggles to know how to go about talking about influences. But just a simple pic or video link can work wonders. I felt I had to explain why I was posting that stuff but you dont really! Chantals blog is good for a bit of that stuff.
I found it really helped all my ideas come together. You will be suprised how obvious it is. It is hard to know where to start !
