Destroying her……..
Still working on the Destroying Her series of drawings. I feel sure that they will feed back into painting in time. For now I am concerned with the themes here and making sure that i am accurately representing that which is going on in my head. Theres some superficial stuff that i have touched on before e.g the horror of her condition, she has made such an effort to get here but ultimately she starts to degrade and its not always from natural causes. However its still easy to see me slipping back into old routines and habits concerning the drawing and my approach to it.
I will stop myself at 100 drawings – binge drawing-although at times exhilarating can also hinder development and experimentation.
Creative City Awards, Birmingham & Fierce Earth
I had the chance to attend the awards ceremony for the creative industries in Birmingham last night (Saturday), invited by FIERCE EARTH. I am so glad I attended, firstly its inspiring to see organizations like STANS CAFE (theater group) and then FIERCE EARTH win awards related to their dedication and hard work in facilitating a wide range of art forms for new and broader audiences and secondly Just attending an event such as this made me feel part of a creative community, clearly this is well established in Birmingham and it gave me hope for Coventry. Certain that over time us creatives in the city can galvanize the artistic/creative community in Coventry. previous posts here have made my feelings fairly clear on that subject .
Any way all in all, a very enjoyable night-the entertainment not bad either. Congratulations to all of the nominees and winners.
